There are times when pollution in port, coastal and inland waters is such that it represents an environmental contingency, so it is extremely necessary to take action quickly and with appropriate measures to avoid further damage to the ecosystem.
In this case, the situation may stem from an oil spill, to which a rapid response is needed to protect the shoreline and clean up the waters along the coast.
Different measures can be taken according to the degree of the problem, the main one being to take containment action, trying to keep the presence of oil flotsam in one area by using booms to prevent it from spreading to the rest of the area.
Once this has been done, the next step is to recover as much of the oil residue as possible, using mechanical means and cleaning the area.
Collection of pollution from spills (oil spills, fuel leaks, etc.)

This situation is a crucial moment in the clean-up phase, which consists of implementing containment and/or absorption barriers that are detached to prevent the advance along the area and promote its collection.
