Start of the campaign: 1 May
The Conselleria de la Mar has announced the reinforcement of the neteja campaign of the Balearic coast, which will begin next year. 1 May and will run until 30 September. More vessels and more coverage
In total, 23 vessels will travel the coasts of the Balearic Islands during the summer, two more than the previous year. Most of them are designed to work near the coastThe new vessels are designed to collect small floating debris, such as plastics and wood. In addition, more robust vessels are incorporated, which are prepared for collecting larger waste and operate in adverse sea conditions.
A joint effort: clean-up and prevention
This increase in resources not only aims to improve the cleanliness of the coastline, but also to strengthening the prevention of marine pollution. According to the Regional Ministry, this is an integrated approach that combines active waste collection with public awareness-raising.
Sustainable investment
The campaign has a total budget of 1.5 millionThe sustainable tourism tax. This investment translates into a coordinated effort to protect one of the Balearic Islands' most precious assets: the sea.
Results and target for this year
During last year's campaign, the following were collected 27 tonnes of wastemainly plastics and wood. The expectation for this year is reduce this figureThis would be an indicator that the coastline is cleaner and that the population is increasingly committed to caring for the marine environment.
